Discussions / Star Wars Galaxies. Star Wars Galaxies was a sci-fi MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts initially released as Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. The game world consisted of several different planets borrowed from the fictional Star Wars universe with a timeline set between the Episode IV: A New Hope. May 12, 2017  I blame Valefor. Must be his fault. We are back in Star Wars Galaxies - The Legends Server. A Server hosted by fans of his classic but closed down MMORPG. XPG Community Discord https://discord.gg.

I am standing in a place that shouldn’t exist. It shouldn’t exist because back in 2011 it was decided that this place and the countless others connected to it were no longer financially viable enough to warrant their own existence. Four years ago, almost to this date, thousands of players gathered where I am standing right now to witness the final moments of Star Wars Galaxies.“When I was very little, I used to create trial accounts of the game for hours and hours just to continue exploring,” John tells me. “Even though I never made it off of Tatooine or past level 12, I fell in love.” That love is what inspired John, better known by his peers as Aconite, to get involved with the community dedicated to preserving and restoring Galaxies to what it used to be. He’s part of a growing trend of MMOs that find a second life through the reverse engineering, emulation, and sometimes theft of their biggest fans. visit site to read more. Azure dreams monster traits. A quick primer for those who’ve been living under a rock: 1) SOE’s making a spiritual successor to Star Wars Galaxies that is also a zombie game, 2) yeah I know, and 3) zombies have transcended mere fad-dom and become immortal cultural icons for reasons I’ll never be able to fully comprehend.

H1Z1‘s impressively ambitious within a very narrow lineage, though. Think DayZ or Rust, but with thousands of players per server, huge areas for them all to build on, and realistic fire to purify all that the unholy hand of man has wrought. Or piss off your friends/enemies. Quick trailer and lengthier recording of a recent Twitch stream below. visit site to read more. Star Wars Galaxies was a lot of things to a lot of people.

A largely barren land of infinite possibility, a janky pile of half-finished bantha poodoo, a player-driven sci-fi sandbox, a nigh-directionless walk through an abandoned Star Wars theme park. Maybe it was a little of all those things when it first came out, but people (myself included) came to love its quirks. And yet, though war never changes, Star Wars do. The New Game Experience (NGE) took SWG in a more cookie-cutter direction, and nothing was ever quite the same after that. Then the whole universe imploded in 2011. And in the game.

Flash forward to 2014: SOE president John Smedley recently claimed that SOE’s next game will be “dedicated” to longtime SWG fans. But what does that even mean? Speaking with RPS, he recently elaborated. The game is still technically unannounced, mind. visit site to read more. Back in my day, we played the original pre-NGE Star Wars Galaxies, and we liked it.

No seriously, we really did, and I think the tide of public (or at least, gamerly) opinion has started lapping at those same shores over the years. Sure, the MMO was a mess when it first tractor-beamed money out of thousands of wallets, but it tried to be legitimately different. It set out to let us authentically inhabit the Star Wars universe, a brilliant vision hampered by half-finished, well, everything. But then the New Game Experience happened, everybody became a Jedi, and SWG was never the same again. SOE, it turns out, regrets that one big time, and they’d like to apologize. With a new game.(more).

Bars, clubs and noisy taverns are always crucial locations in a story-driven game. They are save points, places where we can sell useless stuff from our inventory, gather information, meet a key character, or just simply get into trouble. We have selected bars and inns that look the grittiest. Bars that are perhaps most memorable as being dangerous and chaotic.

So no Stray Sheep this time (well, it's chaotic in a way though), sorry Catherine. Today, the MMO published its official 'memory book,' a whale of a tome at more than 200 megabytes in PDF form, recalling all of the worlds, races and principal events of the MMO's eight-year run.Remember the Sullustan, the Ithorian, the Wookiee, the Human and, yes, the Bothan. And the worlds of Corellia, Dantooine, and Kashyyyk. Remember the Jedi, the the smugglers, the traders and the spies. Remember all the members of the eight Galactic Senates. Remember all those who fought in the great Galactic Civil War or lived in the time of its intrigue. It's a memorial not so much to a game but to its community and if you were ever a part of it. Have one last long look through the pages of its history, with that soundtrack above as your final accompaniment. The Force will be with you.

Always.A Thank You to the Star Wars Galaxies Community Star Wars Galaxies. So that one might live, another must die. And so it was that Star Wars Galaxies went the way of Mark Hamill’s leading man status last week, having been ushered out of existence by the dark forces of licensing in order to make way for The Old Republic. We’ve already posted news of the closure, but it’s well worth having a look at the below player videos of its final moments. As well as all the epic space battle stuff, the death of an online world makes for a strange, and sad affair, where the evident outpouring of emotion is so often hampered massively by the constraints of the game. Yet for all that the stiff animations and looped emotes somehow make these farewells all the more poignant. Also: watch Luke Skywalker get murdered by Ron Burgundy.

And a succession of people just standing around, awkwardly, wondering what they'd done with the last eight years of their lives. As you're probably aware, last weekend the plug was pulled on Star Wars Galaxies, the long-running, mildly-popular but ultimately disappointing MMO that had managed to survive since 2003.The first video is what things looked like outside Mos Eisley, which while normally a hive of scum & villainy, was that night the scene of flesh-pressing, dancing and fireworks. LucasArts has added new features with the latest publish of Star Wars Galaxies. Players can now raid and take over cities. More details below:The Galactic Civil War reaches a new level of intensity as players struggle to gain and maintain control of cities throughout Star Wars Galaxies.

Players will receive a rousing call to arms from the leaders of both sides of the struggle and will see their every day actions matter more than ever before. Cities previously known as Rebel strongholds risk being overrun by the arm of the Empire. And complacent Imperials could see the rebel insignia flying over their town in an instant. This week’s publish to Star Wars Galaxies allows factions to raid and take over cities, changing their look and feel and strategic positioning. Iconic Star Wars leaders will be imploring their supporters to join in the fight. Players also gained access this week to some very cool Player Event Tools. Players will now be able to use droids to set up their own large-scale in-game events, like scavenger hunts, lotteries and the ever popular swoop bike races! Also, to spice things up, players will be able to rent NPCs actors to add some real talent and variety to their events.Star Wars Galaxies increasing the fun factor with each and every publish.

Jump in and see what the buzz is all about! Well the patch also changed how command centers work. There are now PvE and PvP bases. The PvP ones can only be raided for a 2 hour window and that window depends on when the base is put down. So if you put a PvP base down in the mid-afternoon thats when the window will be.PvE bases are always attackable but are ment for PvE experiences for people not interested in PvP. The thing that determines which faction controls a city depends on how many bases are in that cities area of influence. Also a PvP base counts far more towards this then a PvE one does.Oh and now if you go Rebel Combatant (think covert, but KOS by npc's of the opposite faction) you can purchase faction perks as if you were Overt before, and prices have dropped on most things as well.

So thats right, a Rebel Combatant can purchase rebel armor, troopers and other things. Imp Combatants can do the same. It's really quite a cool changeThe downside is right now poeple are farming faction npc's in the cities like crazy, but it makes the GCW (Galactic Civil War) feel more active and faction point gain from these npc's has dropped to nothin, so there is no sense of farming them for FP. I'm sure it will tone down soon.
